Hope everyone is enjoying the Summer (Winter for our friends in the Southern Hemisphere)!!!
It’s held plenty of everything for me personally, my son was born on July 28th, I lost my Grandma in June, my Wife lost her Grandma in July, we moved from a tiny apartment to a nice house……car troubles, slow sales, you name it….and more.
I’m very thankful for blessings and despite any trials you’ll hear no complaining from me. There’s much to work towards and look forward to in the second half of 2009.
First up: Welcome to Dave Piechura (formerly from Vintage King Audio). He has agreed to come onboard and help run Metroamp day to day. Dave brings 18 years of experience and a wealth of gear knowlegde. His dedication to personalized service fits right in and we’re excited to have!
Next up is the Nashville Amp Expo. This weekend Aug 22, 23 Two days of amp extravaganza. We’ll be on display with over 50 other vendors, and the entire place is cleared for high volume!!! Lots of Nashville players will be dropping by. Hope to see lots of Metro forum friends.
Recently launched is our 100 Watt Master Volume amp kit. Based on the ubiquitous Marshall 2203, this amp excels in every situation where you might find a guitar and an amp. It’s an absolute workhorse!
Finally, this week we are celebrating the grand re-opening of our online parts store! Completely redsigned from the ground up and based on new software, the new store is more pleasing, features better images and descriptions, is way faster and the categories are more intutive. Navigation and ease of use have improved dramatically. Watch for Grand Re-opening specials to be announced soon.
All at Metroamp would like to wish our deepest condolences to the family and friends of speaker guru Ted Weber. He past last week and will be missed.
Things have been extra frantic around the shop the last few weeks, preparing for the show. We have lots of stuff to display. Come check out our new shirts, Metroamp and Metropoulos banners, glossy fliers, Metroamp packaged amp parts and more.
Also at the NY Amp Show this Saturday is Piscataway, NJ will be our prototype fo the brand new 100 Watt master Volume amp kit!
We’re also unveiling a new product. Here’s a couple hints: it’s BIG, it’s pinstriped and it RULES!
We’ll have our special recipe chili cooked up in the Metroamp room, and of course our selection of favorite hot sauces. Drop in a for a bowl, and something cold to wash it down.
Ever wondered what Eddie Van Halen was using on tour back in 1978? Join the EVH discussion on the MetroAmp forum in a thread about Ed’s early touring amps and guitars.
With cranked Marshall plexi’s and superleads the main concern was volume: either you’d become deaf or you would blow nice 20-25 watts Celestion Greenback speakers.
MetroAmp will have a booth at the New York Amp Show in Piscataway, New Jersey. You will have the opportunity to meet with the shop staff, try our amplifiers, and find out more about our amp kits. We will be releasing some special surprise product news at the show.

The Black Keys recently stopped in Detroit to play The Fillmore Theater and we brought down two of our plexi repicas for guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach to try out, a Metro 10,000 series 67 replica and a JTM 45 replica. Dan loved both of the amps – he tried them at sound check and then used both for the show.
His usual amps were sitting on the floor, silent. The tone was just sick, and loud as hell. No attenuators in sight! We took some pictures from the side of the stage… the show was January 29, 2009.
